Jose Conseco

What? I watched the A&E special with Jose Canseco a couple of nights ago. It was a mini-look into the life of someone who seems broken, beaten down and outcast with no where to turn. To me it was sad. Sad to watch. He had everything and turned that into crap. Did I feel sorry for him? No. Here's a guy complaining that he has no money yet within the show he moves out of his girlfriend's very nice apartment/house into a HUGE house that no normal working class american can afford. If you're so broke shouldn't you be living in a one bedroom shoebox just off the strip. And on top of it he's riding around on a custom built chopper that had to cost a couple hundred thousand to build. Are you kidding me? He's not broke like you and I know. The so broke you have to ask your mother for money just to eat, broke. You're collecting change from under the carpet of your car broke. You're putting crackers from the cafeteria where you work in your pocket so you don't starve, broke. Jose Canseco effed up! He now admits it. You don't break the man law and expect things to just be fine. It's bad carma. What you put out you will get back. I'm not saying him doing steroids was right. Or all the players he named in his book were right for what they did. But he tried to say because he was coming out and going to admit it that they should too. That's not how things work. Did he think these players would all say, "You're right Jose, I was bad for using steroids. Please forgive me baseball fans."
Hell no. The players are all too arrogant for that. They had this elitism about them when they played and they still have it now. I am untouchable. I am above the rules and regulations of mere mortals. I do not have to answer to anyone let alone the very people who worship me and in the end are responsible for me making a living.
It just will never happen Jose. And now it's too late. You have been banished by the baseball gods. You have been stripped of your immortal status. You must now walk the earth with us baseball peasants. The baseball gods will never speak you're name again. You are but a bad memory. They are just going to watch you fade away. That's sad.
Jose, I understand why you did what you did. I do not condemn you for it. I will still shake you're hand and offer you a shoulder to lean on. You are still a human being. You just made a mistake. A big mistake. But I believe most people are good at heart. I believe you are too. Jose, please, say what you need to say. Apologize. Then quietly fade into the background. And please don't fight Danny Bonaduce.
